Our Cary, NC office is equipped to handle even the most complicated full mouth dental implant cases. We invite you to call our expert team  and learn more about your options for dental implants.

Dental Implants vs. Dental Bridges

Before the advancement of dental implants, dental bridges were considered the best option for replacing a single, or multiple missing teeth. A dental bridge is a custom made replacement tooth that fits the space where the missing tooth is located. The replacement tooth is held in place by attaching to the two adjacent teeth, thus forming a bridge.

While dental bridges are an option for tooth replacement, there is a reason why dental implants have become the preferred procedure for both dentists and patients:

  • A dental bridge can cause the loss of bone in the jaw – much like the bones in the rest of our body, our jaw bone needs to be used consistently to maintain its health and function. When teeth are lost, so are the roots of the teeth that attach to the bone. Unlike dental implants, a dental bridge sits above the gum line. This means that the bone is never engaged and eventually causes erosion of the jaw bone. Many patients who have opted for dental bridges complain of slippage of the bridge and noise when chewing. Often times facial structure can sag because of the bone loss.
  • A dental bridge can stress existing teeth – since the bridge sits on the adjacent teeth, it naturally stresses those teeth to support the missing tooth. Many studies show that patients who wear a bridge are at increased risk of losing the teeth that support the bridge.

Dental implant technology, specifically technology for addressing multiple missing teeth, has become very advanced. Now, dental implants are considered the gold standard for replacing missing teeth, creating a beautiful new smile and restoring a patients oral health. One of the primary pieces of technology that Dr. DeAngelo uses to address the issue of multiple missing teeth is the Yomi® Robot. The robot allows Dr. DeAngelo and his expert team to use computer guided systems to place implants that that will look and function exactly like natural teeth. Please contact our office to learn more about this revolutionary technology.

Implant Options For Multiple Missing Teeth

At his Cary, NC office, Dr. DeAngelo can offer multiple options for patients who are in need of teeth extraction, bone grafting and dental implants. Two of the most common and effective full mouth implant procedures are:

  • Implant Supported Dentures – traditional dentures are often described as uncomfortable and can be a severe nuisance when trying to chew. Technology has allowed specialists to attach the denture to implants to provide complete stability that is often lacking with denture appliances.
  • All-on-4® Dental Implants  – the All-on-4® technique allows patients to have a full set of upper or lower teeth placed on just 4 dental implants. This provides for a secure, comfortable and function set of new teeth! Many times the implants can be placed in just one day.

It is important to understand what these procedures entail regarding timeline and cost. Also,
you will first need to find out if you are a candidate for either of these life changing procedures. To get answers to these questions, please call our office to schedule your personalized consultation
