Dental Implants vs. Dental Bridges
Before the advancement of dental implants, dental bridges were considered the best option for replacing a single, or multiple missing teeth. A dental bridge is a custom made replacement tooth that fits the space where the missing tooth is located. The replacement tooth is held in place by attaching to the two adjacent teeth, thus forming a bridge.
While dental bridges are an option for tooth replacement, there is a reason why dental implants have become the preferred procedure for both dentists and patients:
- A dental bridge can cause the loss of bone in the jaw – much like the bones in the rest of our body, our jaw bone needs to be used consistently to maintain its health and function.
